Connection 2
My second connection from the book Tangerine linking to my topic child psychology has to do with Erik's younger brother Paul. Paul always lived in Erik's shadow. He always felt he wasn't as good as his older brother. He felt his dad favored Erik. There is a section in the book were Paul questioned his dad on his soccer abiltiies. Paul's dad didn't even know how many games he played or the postion Paul played on his team. His dad took no interest in Paul's soccer career. He was only interested in Erik's "football dream". Paul could have benifited seeing a child psychologist so he could have learned to stand up to his dad. Paul could have learned to have more self esteem and live his own life; not in his brother's shadow. Living with a brother like Erik was really tough for Paul. I think with regular therapy sessions, Paul could learn ways to deal with Erik.
